Living History Farm

My friend Melissa invited me and the boys to go to the Living History Farm, and since we had never been there before we decided to check it out. I had no idea that it was over 500 acres and we spent 4 hours walking around looking at everything!! It tells about Iowa's history from the 1700's, 1800's and 1900's and shows you what it was like living during each time period.

Kohen, Riley, Lucas & Kaden

These people are hard core here...volunteers actually live here and demonstrate what it was like living in log cabins. This is a woman cooking some meat over the fire.
They let the kids feed the sheep. The guy in charge told the kids to start yelling "sheep" and all the sheep came running over.

time for school

Kohen actually loved the school house and didn't want to leave. He really thought he was at school for the day.

I can just picture him in kindergarten now. He told the volunteer that he is 5 years old and that he is in preschool. All of which are wrong!!

Most of the volunteers there are cute old people. They let the kids try everything out. These are pictures of the boys learning how to be blacksmith.

Who would've guessed that this place would be so cool? We'll definitely be coming back!

I have been wanting to go there ever since we moved here, but haven't made it. Looking at these photos, I'll be going soon for sure!

History can be fun. I love the picture of Kaden and Kohen at the desks. Kaden looked bored because he's been to school and Kohen looked so little in that desk. he wants to be big like Kaden. Looked like lots of fun. We'll have to go there when we come visit again.

Love,
MOM
