*homemade cinnamon rolls*

The temps have cooled down quite a bit here and I can feel fall on it's way.
And what better food to eat on a cool crisp day than
homemade cinnamon rolls
&
cheesy veggie chowder!
It was my first attempt at making the rolls from scratch.
I'm not going to lie,
it was hard kneading the dough since I don't have a bread maker,
but it was worth it! They were delish.
I don't think I would put that many into one pan again
and I would probably use a cookie sheet rather than a glass pan.

I was going through all my recipes that I have collected throughout the years
and when I came across this cinnamon roll recipe I really wanted to try it out.
A while back in Relief Society we had a bread making class given by Jen Hurst.
All I can say is yum...her bread was amazing! This is her exact recipe....

Cinnamon Rolls
by Jen Hurst

****mix in Bosch or mixer
3/4 cup sugar
2 tbsp yeast
2 beaten eggs
5-6 cups flour(reserve 2 cups for the end)
1/2 tsp salt - add last w/remaining flour-after kneading

***melt together-not hot or it will kill the yeast!
1/4 cup butter
1 cup water
1 cup milk

Combine wet ingredients to dry ingredients in Bosch and knead 8 minutes.  Combine remaining flour and salt knead until well mixed.  Let rise until dough doubles punch down and let rise again.

Roll out dough on floured countertop in a rectangle shape, slather 1 cube of melted butter on dough, sprinkle generously; cinnamon, sugar and brown sugar.  Roll dough from width side to form one long cinnamon roll rope.  With transparent thread or fishing line drag thread under dough and crisscross to cut rolls into 2 inch rolls.

Place on greased cookie sheet to raise again then BAKE at 350 until barely golden -approx. 10-13 minutes.

Frosting
4 oz cream cheese(soft)
1 tsp vanilla
dash of cinnamon
powdered sugar and milk until preferred consistency

Frost while rolls are hot out of the oven.

I can't look at this blog without getting hungry....Thanks Jen!

I am not a great cook, but hopefully if I can follow the directions of other people and their fabulous cooking, then I can become a great cook one day too!
